opening #3386

What's the 4th move??????? There are 3 bishop moves that are obvious....
Is there a way to play a puzzle based on its number? I'm having a hard time trying to find a way.
That was a tough one...I did fail it.

It's e3...apparently in this position forfeiting castling rights doesn't give your opponent the advantage...

o.O
LUDICRUS!!! i am glad i don't play like a computer. Anti-thetical to all I have larned... (forcing BxB; RxB seems to do nothing for white unless both sides play out some alternate AI thread! How many GMs would choose that line??)

THANK YOU my friend... I started methodically trying every move then my Luddite self took over! I only asked to see if I could learn something a human would comprehend
Well, B x f6 is obviously better than allowing ... h x g5. e3 is based on a hanging piece, so it shouldn't take a GM to see it.
It's been clear for a while that the opening trainer is absolutely broken and useless. Nothing is to be learned from it.
Can you find a better move, Dirty Harry?

I can't. Nogenuis is correct about the hanging knight.

Isaiah, I have seen GM's play positions like this. In fact, Carlsen played one in either tha last World Championship or the one before it. I think King takes is better than Rook takes in that type of scenario.
http://en.lichess.org/Hm7hE45X#83 I played against stock fish level 3, it blundered a piece but apparently rook takes is best (or at least it didn't say it was a blunder when I was a piece up, and it was in the suggested line for black).

Which makes sense, because the king isn't in too much danger, and it's difficult to get the rook out after Kxf1.
You're right. In this position stockfish agrees that Rook takes is best. Interesting...

I thought that if King takes, then after a pawn move on the kingside the king can more easily tuck into safety and allow the rook to move to the center. If rook takes, then the king is still in the center and it will still take an extra 2 moves to open the rook's back rank so it can reach the center.

Maybe the computer still wants to preserve castling rights for a potential queenside castle.
