draws

i know a king and just a knight or just a bishop cannot checkmate another king;;;;;;unless the opposition has other pieces on the board to take up spaces when its still theoretically possible ;;;;;;so in my last game id like to know why it was a draw when my opponent still had about 3 pawns nd a rook and knight to take up enough escape space for the other to be unable to move i m thinking that really all i need is a pawn to block an escape route this is something that needs correcting;;; and i should be given credit for a win.... thanks
So you want to claim a win on this game, where your opponent actually has mate in 10 moves and you probably have no chances of mating?

At least do the exercise and show us all the blunder your opponent needs to do for you to win
When time ran out you didn't have mating material. Therefore its a draw. If you'd had a single pawn left, ie. mating material, you'd have got a deserved win. You should be glad to get the draw here, I always am when I'm in similar predicaments.
Funny, but with this rule Black can survive the famous Troicki study
White: Kd5, Be3, p. g6
Black: Kf8, p. e7, h7
1. Bh6+ Kg8
2. g7 Kf7
3. q8=Q Kxg8
4. Ke6 Kh8
5. Kf7

Here, instead of losing, Black can simply run out of time and claim a draw.
