ChessClipse 2017

I hope you haven't made your vacation plans for 2017 yet because the Sinquefield Cup (World Chess Tour) next year will take place in August (don't have the dates but I'm guessing based on prior years).
But wait there's more...
A total solar eclipse will pass through the host city (St. Louis) on August 21. This is a once in a lifetime experience and first time one has passed thru the US for 100 years. So if you want to see an eclipse AND watch world class players (Magnus, MVL, Naka, etc), come to St. Louis next year! I'm like umigosh so excited!
I don't know the dates of the cup next year but I'm hoping Rex Sinquefield (the main supporter of the CCSL) will schedule it around August 21 (either on the rest day or right after the tourney). The path of totality is only 50km south of the city, so you could drive, hop on a shuttle, or bum a ride for best viewing.
So just thought I'd make you fellow LiChess-ers aware so you can make tentative vacation plans for 2017.
Hi Everyone, moi again. Just wanted to let you know you should prolly make your plans soon if you wanna come to St. Louis for the eclipse. The Grand Chess Tour is coming to town August 13-20 for the Sinqefield Rapid, and ends the day before the eclipse.

I just made my hotel reservations and the prices are climbing fast! Cheapest near the chess center are around $110/night. Hope you fellow liChess-ers can make it. Maybe we can have like a meetup while we mingle with the grandmasters.

Here are some hotel possibilities (bottom of page), though the chess rate didn't work for me :-(

Do you think I will make it if I use my moms' credit card? Or will she kill me first?
@Bio-Matrix2
Airbnb. I always do that when booking chess vacations. I am going to the Reykjavik Open in Iceland and hotels are very expensive. I already booked my room through airbnb and saved about 300 dollars for a little over a weeks stay. I might go to the Sinquefield cup next year but have not decided yet. I will make a decision on that after my trip to Iceland.
@chessanalyst, I hope you can make it. Don't wanna miss a total solar eclipse! If you're short on vacation days, u don't hafta stay the whole week of August 13-20; maybe come middle of the week and stay until August 22 (as I'm doing). Or if you're from Europe and get like 50 weeks of vacation a year, then also come for the regular Sinqefield Cup (31 July -12 Aug).
@BronsteinPawn, if you use ur mum's credit card, I won't tell ;-)

I am sorta from Europe. Sorta. I was born in La Spezia Italy and moved out west (to Oregon) when I was very little. I hardly even remember Italy at all.
