Sluggish UI When Dragging Pieces

Sometimes when I drag pieces around it feels very sluggish, like there is a great deal of input lag. Other times it feels crisp and responsive, and I can't work out why it's different. Can anyone help me with this? It makes for unpleasant speed chess.
I spent the longest time trying to figure out what the issue was. If you're on Chrome, it's an obscure bug that has to do with your bookmarks.

Yes, your bookmarks.

For some reason, it takes all of them into account when rendering the page in question, and if you shift focus from your current tab and return to it later, it gets deprioritised and it gets more sluggish the more bookmarks you have. If they're all on the bookmarks bar, make a few nested folders, one inside the other, and throw all your bookmarks in there. Quit your browser, head to lichess, all your lag's gone. If that still doesn't fix it, export all your bookmarks and delete them from Chrome and try again.

It's weird, and I hope this saves you some time. This still hasn't been fixed in Chrome as far as I know.
Thanks for that post AdmiralA. I tried removing all bookmarks and while it seems to have helped somewhat, it's still not as responsive as I'd like. I might try using a browser dedicated to lichess, but that solution is far from ideal.
That can also be caused by normal lag. Check your ping when you are experiencing sluggish movement and when you aren't. It's in your the profile dropdown box next to inbox.
How can it be caused by ping? I'm talking about dragging the pieces on the board around, not even making moves by letting go of them.
You're dragging them? Why would you be doing that. It's slow and cumbersome.

Just click piece, click destination. Problem solved.
I just tried that and honestly it feels clunky and slow when you've dragged pieces for years.
