Tournament timeout

I strongly suggest that games going on when a tournament's timer runs out are not aborted.
That's not going to happen with the current tournaments. Maybe when other tournament formats are added, such as Swiss and Round Robin.
Then you will not see me playing in them. I am surprised to see you have played any games at all - this is a ludicrous vision of chess.
Actually I was working on giving it a try - not aborting tournament games. I hadn't even read this forum thread.

Starting from tomorrow the behavior will be changed. I may revert it later if it doesn't fit.
Starting from tomorrow, tournaments don't abort games when ending. But games that end after the tournament don't affect the tournament standing.
Out of interest, why is standing in the tournament *not* affected? I reckon those games are legitimate parts of the tournament, too.
Yea, this is why it doesn't make sense to have games that can potentially go on for 20 minutes after the end of the tournament. It's incredibly inconsistent and a waste of time.
I see thibault`s point here: If those games are not aborted and affect the result, those players will have more time to pile up points, and it`s unfair.
Maybe there should be given the players a chance to abort after the tourney is over, but both players would have to agree. Of course there would be a message saying that the result of the tourney will not be affected by that game.
This is better. Aborting the game encourages poor antics (ie letting the countdown save oneself from checkmate); but most importantly it can - and did - ruin interesting games.

Not sure if the result counted if that 'd make it any more unfair. The format already is, players come and go as they please, you may sit around without getting a game anyway, and you may win the trophy without ever playing the players closest to you.
If the result mattered, it simply means that the countdown is the deadline to *start* a game.
