I had a +6 position against a GM (and lost)

Hello, just under 30 minutes ago I got paired against a GM in the hourly rapid arena. I was actually quite impressed with my play for a bit, and on move 28, with depth 25, stockfish gives me a +6 advantage. Unfortunately, I completely missed the beautiful 29. Re1 Qxf3 30. Nb5+ idea. I was very worried about the incoming infiltration (considered Rc1 but decided it was too passive, and it came down to a coin flip with Qe2 - which the engine also dislikes) and decided to enter an endgame down two pawns due to his time situation. I wonder if y'all have any thoughts/comments?

Good effort.

He had 2:30 left. Now that you've had time to think about it, what are your thoughts about this decision?

Thank you!

Looking back, I think Qe2 would have been the better choice. Even though it was only 27 seconds, I felt like I had been thinking for too long and rushed to make a move. There's no way I would have spotted Re1 in any universe, so it would have been hard to capitalize on my advantage either way. I'm not too dissapointed but of course I wish I had kept it interesting (which may have forced him to burn more time anyway).
Agreed. I'm guessing the GM was very relieved with the simplification.

But yeah, it's scary to have your king out in the open playing against a GM.
Well, a +6 there is something only an engine is likely to fully fathom...but it is true that you made it about as easy as possible for him (and btw I'm not sure what you meant by 29 Re1 Qxf3...).
@Frogster64

Haha, I agree with both of your points.

@MrPushwood

Yes, the whole line is quite engine-like. Next time I'll try to keep a cool head and calculate instead of seeing ghosts. There is a typo in the line I wrote: it would be 29. Re1 Qxf2+ 30. Re2 Qxf3 31. Nb5+! which the computer says is actually forced mate eventually. Unfortunately, I ended my calculations at 30. Re2 Qxf3, but I do not think I would have found 31. Nb5+ anyway.
Yes, it was an easy opening the stockfish score is wrong that is all; it gives you that because Black didn't engage you and didn't really follow anything Pirc; and besides didn't fight for any adv. against your three pawns. I've seen someone be up that much and be checkmated in one.
I would say you played too passive and neither disturbed your opp at any time. If you were really up that much you would have an attacking situation. Your check move 25 was empty and you are now having to retreat. Old proverb: there is no advantage if there is no attack combination therefore

Not in the above game you didnt, he took it back and with a hard check you then exchange queens but end up not a piece up but two pawns down. Not a tro;; you lost the exchange there, he took you for two pawns ;your pawn take knight was nothing.
