Keyboard shortcuts to select piece in editor - useful or not?

Hi,
I am doing a lot of studies recently, and I create a lot of positions from books I read. I think selecting a piece using a keyboard would greatly improve usability. My idea would be 1-6 keys for the piece (same order as pieces presented on the editor), maybe shortcut to clear the board.
Do you think it would make sense for you?

In fact, I did a working prototype of this feature (I am a developer myself), so if this idea will get positive feedback, I will go ahead with implementing it.

Thanks for yours support. I am going to release it as some kind of plugin - not sure about chrome extension, never did one. Hopefully, if it will be popular, this could be built into lichess one day.
