Letting time run out instead of resigning

Did you note already how many people on this website just run away instead of resigning? Perhaps the staff should punish these people a little bit harder. Otherwise, the website is great.
Happened to me a few times. It might be some have connection issues?
Happens to me sometimes usually when their position looks very bad for them.
Did you note already how many threads in this forum exist about this?
Yes, it's a real problem. This kind of "player" has nothing to do with chess. Just ban them from Lichess !
They should only be banned in obvious bad positions, after reviewed by moderators; for example, you're white and they're black, the advantage is +15 or #5 or something
They do get banned temporarily. I think that's fair. If you did it accidentally, you accept it because you probably feel bad for your opponent and you think it's justified. If you do it deliberately, it limits your chances to do it again. Maybe it's not harsh enough to perpetrators, but you risk perma-banning well meaning folks. I think we can put up with a little annoyance if it reduces the risk of honest chess players wanting to just play chess. Just block them in from future games with you.

Yes, maybe it keeps you from winning a tournament, but there's another one coming up soon...
I've reported several. No idea whether Lichess acted on the information; they never bother to tell you.
Sometimes people can have bad connections. However if the opponent suddenly stops playing after hanging a queen, you can be fairly sure they're just letting the time run out. I just put them on my block list.
