I understand that lot of people worry about playing against cheaters and so the index of suspicion has been be quite high..
There is also a downside to it. It does damage the reputation of truly good players.. One of my friends with the ID "gay_chess" has a FIDE rating of >2200, and indeed plays good games. He was flagged as "This player uses computer assistance!" , his rating was set to 1500. I am pretty sure that he is not cheating, and I am also pretty sure that this is not the first time such a case may have occurred. It clearly discourages good players - FMs, GMs, or even non-titled good players to play on lichess. In fact, the opposite should be true.. better players should be encouraged to play here - the whole community will benefit from that.
While it is quite hard to determine the true cheaters from the truly good players, there must be a way for players to to appraised or warned that they are suspected of cheating, and give them an opportunity to clear it up before putting them to public shame!
