Learning through pain is slapping someones hand when they reach for the piece to take it back, which I have seen happen. Try that in prison- see how it works out for ya. Take backs are literally for children learning the game, that's it. And even then maybe not, they might cry if they lose a piece and never play again. My first game I was 6 and lost in 4 moves and I was amazed by it and never stopped playing.
