Why Fischer Random sucks and

Fischer Random Chess would be more interesting if it were made asymmetrical. The first 8 moves are dropping a piece behind your pawn ranks starting with black so you get to choose your starting position, then white gets first move after that to balance out first move advantage.
Luarose this is exactly what I have been proposing for the last 4 pages. However white should drop first so as to have a slight information disadvantage but still have the first move (on move 9!).
960 chess is perfect for people who are too lazy to learn theory i like it cause i can make stupid moves in it and get away with it but in normal chess i would get punished for doing stupid moves.
#33 chess960 your strategy cannot work for standard chess or any chess variant including chess 960.
Your strategy would be great for poker and other cards games.
Also consider this. Once we know the optimal formations we can then arrange graded formations for handicapping.

Another option for Handicapping is to allow one player to know the formation of the other and be able to align his pieces in best counter line up formation.
i do not like handicapping it is not a real win in my opinion if you win it feels hollow as you won cause you had an advantage and if you lost you kind of feel stupid you have a advantage and could not even win or draw :P
#33 it is quite opposite. Loads of chess 960 positions are such that you have to play lots of attention to opening just to survive. You rarely get away with bad move. Just you have notice the problem not to remeber it.

Actually opening is the hardest part of 960. Hence it totally unsuited for blitz
8 million starting positions.

And you still have the choice to play the classical starting placement.

I thought there are just 960 starting positions.
There could have been many more if there were no restrictions for the starting positions except:
1. No pieces or pawns may attack opponent's pieces or pawns in the starting positions;
2. All white's pieces and pawns must be in rows 1 to 4, and all black's pieces and pawns must be in rows 5 to 8.

Actually, it would be great if lichess implements this.

I hope someone can calculate the number of possible starting positions which meet all these requirements .
